Approach to Your Care
We believe that professional therapy should always fit the individual, not the other way around. By combining clinical expertise with a deeply tailored approach, we meet you exactly where you are to unlock your inner strengths, release stored nervous system stress, and create meaningful forward momentum.
Our mission at The Good Space is to walk beside you through every step of your healing journey—helping you process past struggles, rediscover your personal resilience, and move gently toward a values-aligned, fulfilling life.
My Story
Jo founded The Good Space Counselling in Newcastle out of a genuine passion for guiding others through life's most complex chapters. After a successful early career co-owning businesses and working in corporate management, a life-altering illness in her late twenties completely changed her trajectory. This profound experience inspired her to pivot into the mental health and care industry, bringing a wealth of real-world wisdom, resilience, and genuine heart to her therapeutic practice.
Our Shared Journey
Jo believes that therapy should meet you exactly where you are. She balances formal qualifications with deep lived experience to ensure you feel seen, heard, and completely safe as you heal and grow.
Professional Expertise: Qualifications in Counselling, Disability & Aged Care, Life/Business Coaching, Hypnotherapy, and NLP, with specialised training in CBT, REBT, Neuroplasticity, trauma support, positive psychology, and somatic practices.
Lived Experience Support: Providing a compassionate, judgment-free space for navigating complex trauma, domestic violence, grief, loss, and major life transitions.
On a Personal Note
Anchored by her loving family, friends and cat Reggie, Jo loves a good pun, dragonflies, hiking, board games, Pilates, Australian hip-hop and her home town Newcastle NSW.
